Designs by Jenny Lee

Jenny, a graduate of the University of Alabama, began her career as an interior designer under the supervision of a custom home builder in Tuscaloosa, AL. Several years into her career, she identified a local market need for decorative light fixtures. Teaming up with her sister-in-law, she opened Lampadas, a storefront that initially focused on light fixtures but soon expanded into a full-service showroom offering lighting, drapery, and furniture. Jenny's keen artistic eye and passion for assisting others quickly propelled the store's success. Before long, clients were seeking her expertise for their own homes.

These experiences ignited Jenny's true creative passion: guiding clients through the entire home building process. Her design process begins long before construction starts, meticulously planning everything from site plans to materials, lighting, drapery, and furnishings. Inspired by her love for art and art history, Jenny views each project as a three-dimensional painting, where every element harmonizes with the next.

After welcoming two daughters, Jenny shifted her career focus to prioritize her family while continuing her interior design work as a freelance consultant. This move allowed her the flexibility to delve deeper into projects while dedicating time to her family.

With over 20 years in the interior design industry, Jenny's creative endeavors have extended beyond home interiors. She co-founded The Chrysalis Center, a nonprofit in Tuscaloosa dedicated to providing education and resources for children and families affected by dyslexia. Jenny's motivation for starting this nonprofit stemmed from her own challenges in finding suitable local resources for one of her daughters with dyslexia. Discovering that traditional educational settings often overlook the needs of creative and dyslexic thinkers, Jenny became passionate about creating an environment where such children can thrive.

The Chrysalis Center aims to support creative thinking through its tailored educational approach. Jenny continues her freelance interior design work while actively contributing her time to fundraising for the center. One of her initiatives, the Designing for Dyslexia Showhouse, blends her love for interior design, art, community, and children. This event not only raises crucial funds for The Chrysalis Center but also raises awareness about dyslexia and the importance of accommodating diverse learning styles within education.
